Trendy Spikes and Studs

Posted on Thursday 19 March 2009

I’ve always liked ‘em, as long as they’re not too over the top. And I love to take a right proper outfit and naughty it up just a bit…. like satin or chiffon with spiked or studded accessories. Collar, cuffs (jacket/blazer), purse, belt or shoes, just not all together. Check out these sassy-yet-classy gloves I found @ Net-A-Porter ooooooooo!

Shoe of the Week

Posted on Thursday 19 March 2009

I got this really cute white Steve Madden watch for a good price and these shoes would go so very well with it. The white leather and gold studds are just the right amount of naughty and nice.

Fancy Gel Nails

Posted on Thursday 12 March 2009

I work with a lot of women of all ages and one of the few things most of us agree on is that we all love to get our nails done. I used to get acrylic but gel’s the way to go. They are beautiful and durable and now you can even get your toes done too! I love the glitter tips, a little extra bling - so pretty and glamorous.

My nail lady is Laura Rogers and her company is Trendy Gels                                      (laura-nails1967@hotmail.com). She works in a beauty salon not far from where I live (Parkside Salon in Port Coquitlam) so the convenience is nice. Laura is a lovely, friendly woman who is very creative and skilled (and clean). Her nails are a work of art; I get so many compliments on my gorgeous nails.

I work as a bartender and cocktail waitress weekends at a casino and my poor old hands are wet from bar-rags and constantly washing my hands - keep things clean and germ-free. The water and soap reek havoc on my hands leaving them cracked and looking gnarled and old. My nails help keep my hands clean and beautiful… thanks Laura.

Review, Almay concealer

Posted on Wednesday 4 March 2009

I tried Almay line smoothing concealer because the back of the package said it ‘hides imperfections, reduces the look of fine lines’. But Line smoother doesn’t stay smooth at all. Within minutes, I could see where the product had settled into every little crease and wrinkle around my eyes. It’s too bad because Almay line smoothing concealer is bright and creamy and probably looks and feels wonnderful on younger, smoother skin… exactly the opposite of what it says it’ll do.
