Losing weight for summer

Losing weight is big business and there are endless ways available to help us.

I’m not a large woman but every winter I love to indulge in Halloween treats, Thanksgiving bounties, and Christmas goodies. They re-appear as lumpy cushions of chub around my thighs and midsection. So every spring I start the process of losing weight for summer. I’ve used the fat and carb blocking pills, the Atkins diet, the Zone… but in the end it comes down to a very simple equation… eat less, move more. It’s so simple that Mad TV did a spoof about it on one of their shows; you can check it out on U TUBE - Mad TV - Eat Less, Move More (Crista Flanagan). You can pay the bucks and hope for the best but it all comes down to will power…. if you really want to lose weight, you will.

My favourite method for losing weight for summer is a diet consisting of as much raw, unprocessed food as possible and getting active.  By eating as much fruit and vegetables as you can, you are getting a lot of vitamins and minerals thus maximizing your health benefits. You can take all the pills - vitamin/mineral supplements you want but our bodies absorb more when we get them the good old fashioned way, eating good wholesome food.

I have this last bit of advice…. if you are overweight, just enjoy and embrace all the beauty that is you. Please don’t make excuses or apologies; love yourself and others will love you too.
