I can’t imagine having only 10 items in my wardrobe, but if I had to break it down to basic pieces I must have, these would be my choices:
1. The perfect pair of jeans- which means they have to be comfortable and fit like a glove… not too tight but definitely not too loose.
2. Jacket/blazer- black of course (goes with everything) with some nice detailing like pleating, stitching, and of course, the afore mentioned perfect fit.
3. Sheath dress- preferably with some give (stretch) and in a neutral colour like grey, taupe or beige.
4. White dress shirt - as crisp as possible; something business-like for office wear and sexy enough to go out in.
5. Black dress pants- perma-press of course.
6. Black dress skirt - I love the tulip or pencil styles apposed to the classic A-line (more figure flattering).
7. A red purse- I prefer a muted, darker shade of red and it has to be large enough to carry everything I need to get me through the day and night.
8. A killer pair of High Heels- Black of course, and nothing too glitzy but gorgeous enough to make all the ladies drool… this could be boots, same rules apply.
9. Walking/running shoes - As far as I’m concerned these are a fashion no-no. They do nothing to flatter anything on anyone… but we all know we all need a comfortable pair of shoes eventually.
10. Track suit - like it or not we should all work out sometime.
I cannot stress enough the importance of a good fit. Snug but not tight- the right fit is key no matter what your size.
